Mini Rothko

Let's make our own Mini Rothko using recycled materials! The American Artist Mark Rothko liked to paint pictures with lots of colors. He thought that using color was the perfect way to express emotion. He came up with a new art form called Colorfield- that looks a lot like a field of color! We'll explore our own color fields today as we create a Mini Rothko.

Step 1: Pre-cut 4-5 pieces of cardboard.

Step 2: Use oil pastels to color the base of your artwork with whatever color connects with your feelings.

Step 3: Use pastels to color your other cardboard as well.

Step 4: Play with the different pieces to decide which pieces should go in which orientation.

Step 5: Use glue to adhere each cardboard piece to your base.
