Community Assist FAQs

Does my school or community organization have to meet certain requirements to qualify?

We aim to serve populations of children that will most benefit from our curriculum designed for mental/emotional wellness and the growth of social emotional skills. We understand that this doesn't always look like a finite free and reduced lunch number. We encourage you to tell the authentic story of the little artists you work with. Our Board of Directors casts votes for Community Assist Recipients based on community need, mission alignment and staff investment.

What do you mean by community need, mission alignment and staff investment?

Community Need

Does the applicant have a high need community of students Art Feeds can serve well? Does the applicant serve a diverse and/or underserved group of students? Will our expressive and creative programming make a significant impact?

Mission Alignment

Does the school or children’s organization have values and culture that aligns with Art Feeds mission and values? Will this alignment create program fidelity?

Staff Investment

Does the school or children’s org staff express a clear commitment to Art Feeds and implementing the programming? Is the school or organization leadership invested in the use of this program?

What is the average size of school or class that receives Community Assist?

We look for entire schools or organizations that are committed to using the training, curriculum, and art supplies to impact the most children. The average elementary school Community Assist Partner is 500 students. The average community organization serves 200 students. The average value of resources a Community Assist Partner receives is equal to $10,000.

No, you do not have to already be a monthly or annual member to Art Feeds Online to apply.

Do I have to be an elementary school art teacher?

We love elementary school art teachers! But you don't have to be one to be a Community Assist Partner. You can be grade level teacher, school counselor, art teacher, therapist, organizational staff and more to apply. Past Community Assist Partners include but are not limited to: Elementary schools, middle schools, behavioral health centers, higher needs schools, museums, art museums, after school programs, libraries, juvenile detention centers, pre-schools, women and children's shelters, advocacy centers, migrant community organizations, trauma centers, international missions and more.

Who is your programming and curriculum for?

We have 8 distinct bundles of curriculum designed for various populations of children. These are:

  • Core Elementary: designed for Kindergarten through 5th Grade students

  • Pre-School: created for little ones 3-5 years old

  • Trauma: made for children who are undergoing or have undergone significant trauma or are dealing with chronic trauma or obstacles. This has been used post natural disaster, to address COVID related trauma, acts of violence, children with chronic disease or children of family members with chronic disease, and more.

  • Special Needs: made for higher needs and neurodivergent artists

  • Extra Love: designed for children with behavior or emotional disorders that may need a little bit of extra love

  • International: created for use internationally (has been used in Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, Haiti, Mexico, Honduras and India) and can be used for international populations migrating to a new country

  • Mural: a special curriculum and program designed to create a mural start to finish in partnership with Art Feeds

Our Community Assist partners are able to curate the curriculum and tools we provide to best assist the children they serve. As part of our check-ins and training, we can help with that curation.
