Read Along Bundle
Time to get crafty! Check out these DIY projects paired with your little artist's favorite books.
Twirling Giraffe Jar
For this project we are inspired by the story “Giraffe’s Can’t Dance” by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees, together, we’ll create a giraffe that, like Gerald, very much CAN dance. Our project will create a jar that will help the Giraffe do their very best dance move: a twirl.
Idea Container
We’ll be reading the book, “What Do You Do with an Idea?” and creating a project together where we think through idea development! There are two options to completing this project, either as a container using Salt-Dough Clay or a container using Paper and a Tin Can.
Strength Stones
Today we are reading “These Words I Shaped for You” written by Megan Merchant and illustrated by Basak Agaolu. In this story, you’ll hear something special the parent panda shares with the child panda- Strength stones. We’ll make our own to remind us of our own strength using found rocks and some outside objects.
Mixed Media Naturescapes
A little inch worm uses the tools he has to measure the birds around him (and to survive!) teaching us that even the littlest creatures can solve problems creatively and can do hard things. Inspired by Leo Lionni’s story and artwork in the book “Inch by Inch”, we’ll be creating a mixed media naturescape using various art materials.
All of these projects are found in our online resource treasure trove: Art Feeds Online! Not a Member? Check out the goodness with a 14-day free trial here.
