Irving Elementary

Art Feeds programs reached Irving Elementary within months of the Joplin tornado in May 2011. Because the school building had been destroyed, the Art Feeds Joplin team taught programs out of a spare space in a FEMA trailer at the temporary facility. After 2 1/2 years, the Irving community combined with another school community (Emerson) at a beautiful, spacious new building rebuilt just for these students! During Spring 2014, we spent 4 weeks developing theme, color scheme and designs for a mural in their school. They chose the theme Dreams and Perseverance and we couldn't be more pleased with the imagery that flowed with this. We took their drawings, scanned, composed & painted them to produce this unique 9'x12' mural that showcased in the brand new building.
