Current Impact
Art Feeds programs served 1,700 Joplin children on a weekly basis during the Spring 2012 semester. This Summer 2012, we have worked with 2500 students through partnerships with local summer camps and children’s organizations. We are committed to reaching every child in the Joplin area by 2013 which will be approximately 4500 children weekly. To date, Art Feeds has reached 11,500 children with Art Feeds programs.
Students, teachers and parents are advocating for our programs because of the impact it has on local children to draw, paint, dance, sing and move actively past the May 22, 2011 tornado that traumatized the children of the Joplin community. Beyond our weekly sessions Art Feeds also conducts art camps and workshops in alliance with community children’s organizations in various capacities. Our goal is to meet the needs of Joplin students emotionally and developmentally through art, expression and creative education.
