Best Projects of the Summer

We’ve spent our summer providing art camps to a heap of kiddos all over the Joplin area.

Today, we’ve compiled photos from all of our favorite projects of the summer.  We believe that ideas should be shared, used as bases for new projects, & brought to fruition! Feel free to use these ideas as inspiration for your own projects, lessons, & ponderings.

 Enjoy!

You are an Artist! Creations

Each student got to design themselves as anything they wanted for themselves. Molly drew herself as a fashionable polka-dotted cat.

Harold and the Purple Crayon Imagination Paintings

Together with our preschoolers, we read the classic story Harold & the Purple Crayon.  Then, we took to the walls! Each child designed their own creative world on the walls of their classroom, then we shared our creations with the rest of the class.

Picasso’s Cardboard Sculptures

Picasso experimented with many different mediums- sculpture was one of them! We worked together to create out own animal cardboard sculptures like Picasso.

Wishing Tree

After we painted this tree, we tied origami cranes & butterflies to the limbs.  We also wrote our wishes on ribbons which we tied up high together. See the headline image for the finished tree!

Ballet with our friends from Midwest Regional Ballet

We have an amazing dance company in Joplin who volunteered their time in Art Feeds programs.  We had a basic ballet class, then went outside to practice lifts.

Recreate Your Favorite Paintings

Each child got to recreate their favorite paintings & make any change they wanted.  Here’s Sophie with her rendition of American Gothic.

It’s been a fabulous summer and we’re so excited for another batch of fun lessons for this fall!

Love Naively. Give Generously. Be Foolishly Compassionate.
