Artist Spotlights

So here’s the best Christmas gift you can give: The gift of Art Feeds programs to one child for an entire year.  The package is $36 & provides your giftee with original artwork, a handwritten note & a leather bracelet. Purchase it here!

Here are a few of our amazing little artists we’d love to introduce to you:

This is Miss Flannery.

Her mom provided us with this conversation, which put us in fits of giggles.
Mama: What do you like about Art Feeds?
Flannery: “I love the Giving Tree- remember, when we were outside and we all painted and put stuff on the tree?”
Mama: “Yes, but what do you like about them?”

Flannery: ” and the pink sparkles in the jar….”
Mama: and- what else do you like?”
Flannery: “THE PEOPLE!!”
We also heard stories from our educators of Flannery’s imagination this semester: “It’s a baby unicorn who makes dresses!”

Chloe is a 2nd year Art Feeds student & loves painting “with REAL paint. That comes in a tube. On canvas.”
She’s always smiling & says one of her favorite projects was last year when the Kufara marimba group performed during Art Feeds class, helping us experiment with lots of unique instruments. (And make a ton of noise.)

We love seeing Chloe’s enthusiasm transfer into her artwork with bold colors, creative ideas & a smiling reveal.

We introduce Aria.
Miss Aria is a 2nd year Art Feeds student & loves when we paint on canvases.
We asked her what her craziest idea for an art project would be. She told us: “To make a huge painting on our cafeteria wall.” Way to dream big, sunshine! (We’ll have to run that one by a few layers of administration…)

Aria says “I think art feeds is really fun and helps me get over things that bother me.” And we’re so happy to hear it.

Meet Grant.
Don’t let his hair fool you. He is a careful artist, giggles infectiously & loves abstract art “because it doesn’t really look like anything, just a design.”
He likes Art Feeds because “kids can do art when they don’t know how.”

He’s craziest idea for an art project in AF class? “Take pipe cleaners and paint then paint a picture of anything you want and then decorate it with pipe cleaners.” (On it, Grant.)
As a sidenote, he mentioned: “I like Art Feeds! People should give money to Art Feeds so they can buy more supplies. I like Art feeds when they come to school.”
Grant’s now been hired as our PR spokesperson.

Meet Brock, one of our softspoken & radiant artists.

Brock says he likes Art Feeds because it “lets him be creative and it’s fun.” He loves being able to paint and he feels happy when he’s in Art Feeds. “When you’re in Art Feeds it’s a safe place where you aren’t judged and he is always welcomed with a big smile.”
Get ready for a heartmelt: Brock would “love to do a project for another community that has experienced some type of tragedy.” (That’s in our hearts too, Brock!)

Stay tuned for 5 more Artist Spotlights popping up on our Facebook page in the next week.
